Amon

Amon
   A pre-dynastic Egyptian god, so ancient that he is never found alone but always in association with some other god such as Ra. As Amon-Ra he was ‘king of the gods, creator of the universe, lord of Karnak, and father of the Pharaohs’. He was Great God of Thebes, and became Supreme Deity of Egypt during the eighteenth dynasty. His theophany was a ram. The Triad of Thebes was composed of Amon-Ra, his wife Mut, and his son Khensu. Originally he appears to have been a god of agriculture, and as such became associated with death. At Siwa he was worshipped under the name of Jupiter Ammon.
